Angelus

Title: Angelus
Trivia: Angelus is Latin for Angel

Author: Silent Afterglow
Fandom: Trauma Team
Character: CR-S01, Female OC

Here I given her name Heather Grace. I also used the name Famitsu introduced for him, Erhard Muller.

Summary: As a surgeon, he didn't believe in unscientific things. That is, until she came to his life.

DISCLAIMER:  I DO NOT OWN TRAUMA TEAM. I DO HOWEVER, OWN MY OC.

A/N: I don't play Trauma Team, but I searched for the term 'cryostasis' in Wikipedia, so I believe that Erhard was held in a fridge, or extremely low temperature cell prison instead being cryogenically frozen.

"Miracle does exist."
Angelus (c) Silent Afterglow 2012

She remembered.

Heather remembered.

The first moment she saw that young surgeon...Was in prison.

Heather remembered how surprised she was. It was cold. Freezing air flew out as soon as she opened the prison's cell, and she saw the young man chained to the wall, yet his face was devoid of any emotions. What did he do, until he had to be stored into this kind of prison? Held in cryostasis, she then knew the reason...He is the fearful CR-S01, who was found guilty on the bioterrorism attack eight years ago. But seeing his face, seeing his eyes...Could it be that he is truly guilty?

She found that just almost immediately after that very brief encounter, this raven would have saved her mother's life. Heather herself is a surgeon, however she is still inexperienced in the ways of medical treatment, and in no means a match for this young surgeon.

Many was disturbed with his apparent lack of emotions. His parents were so afraid of him that they believed he would kill them. But, Heather knew that beneath his cold, almost emotionless facade, he is a kind soul. Why would someone as cold as him operated on people he didn't know, if it wasn't because of his drive to save people? He could even see people as bothersome, and with his intelligence, he would be able to easily make a deadly strain of bioterrorism, just like this deadly disease. He is a prodigy in medic. Although she had heard of his story that if he operated on people, his 250-years sentence in would could be reduced, Heather still believed that CR-S01 was indeed dreamed of saving people.

She wanted to touch his heart. Although sometimes those crimsons scared her, but they were gleaming with honesty. Driven, and courageous. His eyes were so innocent, she cannot see any resentment radiated from those round, scarlet orbs. And yet, the shine of his eyes spoke about his dark past, and Heather was yet to see such sad eyes as his.
He, on the other hand...Did not believe in angels. That is, until this girl with flickering blue eyes came into his life.

He had never expected to receive any acknowledgement toward his works, his successful operations. He was aware that his name was related to the outbreak of this pandemic more than eight years ago. He was aware that he was proclaimed guilty, although history stated otherwise. He was truly aware that many was disturbed by his lack emotions, and that he does not display much emotions to express how he feels. But could he tell them how he held no resentment towards his adoptive father for dragging him in this mess? He believed that no one will believe him or his words

"Hey...I don't know what I should call you? It's kind of awkward that I call you by your initial..."

He remembered that her face flushed red when she asked, but the look on his face was indifferent. He does not mean any harm, it is just that he does not know how to respond this inquiry, since his fellow medic team never called him by name. He wanted to chuckle, but he forgot as on how. He even forgot how to smile.

"..."

He remained silent, as he searched throughout his memories. Slowly but surely, his amnesia was decreasing, to the point he could recall his memories without experiencing great pain.

"...I believe...You can call me Erhard."
He couldn't forget how warm her smile was, as those bright blue eyes darted to the ceilings of the hospital. Dressed in the usual hospital robe, Heather managed to survive the operation in where he had to operate on tumors in her lungs. The demonic, red eyed surgeon at first hesitated to carry on the operation. Heather, without his realization, had come to be someone so dear at his heart. Operating on his own partner was one of the toughest operation he had to done.

"Erhard...It's such a beautiful name. It means...Strong in German, right?"

He tilted his head. "I don't know about such thing."

Heather chuckled warmly. "Well, I had a German upbringing, so I learned German once in a while. I once went to Germany too." Heather laughed freely, before she stared at the young man again, drowning sapphires met with glaring crimsons. "Thank you. I can't thank you enough for saving my life." She smiled again, and CR-S01 could feel the frozen heart of his started to melt. This partner of his...Not only she excelled at providing support during operation, but she also...Was...So kind. He then quietly reflected on an operation...

"The patient is Alisa Grace, my - my mother," Heather explained nervously as she briefed the young surgeon on the operation. "The patient was caught in a middle of major traffic accident and she suffered both external and internal wounds. There are glass shards etched on her chest area and her lower abdomen, and according to the X-Ray results, there is a large foreign object inside her stomach, and her ribs are deformed. There are also hemorrhaging as well." The man with raven locks nodded as he flipped through the patient's chart. He was lost in the thought as he saw the blood tension of the patient.

Blood Tension
Normal: 90 - 119 mmHg
Current: 61 - 70 mmHg

"Heather, this is going to be a risky operation. I take it that your mother is suffering from hypotension?" Heather nodded sadly. "Yes, my mother is suffering from low blood pressure." The red eyed man then took it into deep consideration. "Maria!" he called with authority. The paramedic with green eyes then stepped forward as CR-S01 swiftly gave her orders. "Prepare three blood packs and a tension-meter!" Heather then looked at CR-S01 awkwardly, as she asked, "Blood packs? Why do we need them?" The raven answered without looking back, "This is an operation. We need transfusion every now and then, but if she suffered from low blood pressure, we need more blood packs." He then looked at Heather now, red eyes flashing dangerously with confidence, "Let's get the procedure done. Are you ready?"

Heather nodded. "Yes. Let's begin."

CR-S01 then with his usual precision and speed, asked for suture and antibiotic gel. "Get the forceps and tray ready. I will extract the glass shards." Heather then handed him the tray, as the young surgeon swiftly and fluidly placed glass shards stained with blood on the tray, she paid attention to the screen monitoring the heart rate. "Doctor," she softly interjected, "The patient's vitals are not stable yet. We need to inject stabilizer." He nodded as he applied antibiotic gel over small wounds unable to be sutured, and as he finished, he then put the suture and antibiotic gel. "Ready the syringe and stabilizer. We will stabilize the vital before we get to the main objective." As they watched a vial of green medication disappeared into her skin, Heather took a quick glance on the screen. "Vitals are now at sixty. Let's treat her abdomen area." CR-S01 didn't take long to finish the procedure, and then he turned at the fresh surgeon, red eyes intense and his voice was coated in the void of emotion. "Disinfect the area of incision. Ready the antibiotic gel." Heather did as ordered, and with high precision, CR-S01 opened the patient up.

"...! This is!"

Both surgeons looked, surprised. "This is one bad accident I have ever seen..." Unfortunately, the screen of heart rate immediately goes flat, beeping dangerously alarming. Heather, with eyes glazed on the screen, cried.

"Doctor! The patient is going into a cardiac arrest!"

The demonic, red eyed surgeon, replied evenly and calmly, "Charge the AED! Get the defibrillator ready!" Heather briskly handed him the defibrillator, as he calmly set the paddles. "I won't let this patient die." And as a jolt of electricity shocked the patient, Heather rushed a breath of relief, "We have a pulse! But Doctor, her vitals may be dropping again throughout the operation." He then nodded. "We have to administer the stabilizer. Get the syringe ready." The raven surgeon then administered two vials of green medication and raised the vitals to sixty. "Doctor, I think we can't raise the vitals anymore until we extract the foreign object out of here." CR-S01 nodded, as he then nimbly applied antibiotic gel to small wounds. "There are glass shards here and there too..." he murmured to himself as he took the forceps and extracted all of the glass shards. "We're done. Heather, prepare the ultrasound." The female blond then quickly operated all the instruments and got the ultrasound ready as she paid close attention to the screen. "What is that?!" she yelped as she came across a shadow of a long implement beneath the patient's intestines. "...It seems to be a wiper," came the calm voice of the young escapee, "I heard that from the scene of accident, one of the wipers went missing."

Heather held her breath. "This can't be..." A wiper was stuck in her intestines... "Doctor, we need to extract that thing quick!" CR-S01 was already far ahead of her, of course, as he nimbly incised the place where the shadow appeared. "Ready the forceps and the tray! Beginning the extraction!" Heather was about to give the young surgeon the tray when the screen beeped alarmingly - again.

"Again!?" CR-S01 cursed under his breath. Heather cried frantically, "Doctor, the patient has gone into a cardiac arrest!"

"Set the defibrillator! Charge the AED!" Heather did as ordered, and the raven once again resuscitated the patient. "She will be fine for now." He then administered two vials of green medication again, before he then paid his attention to the wiper that apparently had chosen the place to stuck itself. "I'm taking you out of there." He then asked for the forceps. Heather handed it rather nervously, since the wiper was so long. "Be careful, Doctor...The wiper is long." He then swiftly clipped the object with the forceps. "Pull it Doctor! But slowly!"

Without losing any confidence he had, he then slowly pulled the wiper. Heather watched gingerly as he made his way slowly, but with confidence and precision, slowly yet surely. After what it seemed to be a long period of time, CR-S01 held the wiper in his hands, victorious. The wiper was soaked in the fresh blood of the patient, and Heather breathed freely. "The peril had passed. Now all that remains is to treat hemorrhaging in her intestines and we still have to reform her rib cage."

The rest of the operation went on smoothly, as CR-S01 incised the black swellings at the patient's intestines, a cycle of draining blood and suturing the wound and reformed the rib cage with the fragments of bones they retrieved. When he had finished applying the antibiotic gel, he then stepped back. "...We did it." Heather then slowly shed silent tears. "We did it, Doctor. That was truly amazing...Let's close the patient up." With his nimbleness that hadn't decreased even the slightest bit when he started the operation, the criminal surgeon then closed the patient and sutured the incision. And with shaky hands, he finally applied the antibiotic gel and bandaged the suture.

Once again, the young surgeon succeeded in another operation. Fighting the dormant tumor inside the female was a tough war, but he came victorious in the end. Secretly, he wished that Heather would accompany and aid him in the battles to come.
